Since our founding in 2018, Willowbrook Farm Charity has been driven by a clear vision: to reconnect people with nature, inspire sustainable living, and build stronger, more inclusive communities. Over the years, we’ve grown into a place where learning goes beyond the classroom, where hands-on experiences cultivate new skills and deep respect for the natural world.
Though the pandemic brought challenges, our journey has only strengthened our resolve for the need of a more connected world. Today, we’re rebuilding with renewed purpose, determined to become a national centre for sustainability education and community engagement, where everyone can discover their place in caring for the earth and each other.
2018: Planting The Seeds
Founded as an unincorporated association with a vision to reconnect people with nature, community, and sustainable living. Secured the first major grant from National Lottery Awards for All. Launched Projects offering therapeutic, skill-based volunteering and cultural exchange.
2019: Creating Space For Connection
Built an Adventure Playground to support children’s learning and play. Funded by Willowbrook Farm business, delivered with volunteers and Playground Engineers. Planned future youth-led expansion with “Build Up.”
2020: Becoming A Registered Charity
Gained full charitable status, unlocking new opportunities for funding, credibility, and volunteer acquisition. Faced severe challenges during COVID-19. Paused growth plans and delivered one-off initiatives while reassessing sustainability.
2021: Strengthening Vision And Foundation
Welcomed two new trustees and began formalising a long-term partnership with the Radwan family. Developed a shared vision for a therapeutic, educational centre rooted in sustainability and inclusion.
2021–2022: Culture, Creativity, And Growth
Delivered Willowbrook Arts & Music Festival, supported by Arts Council funding. Welcomed six new trustees in 2022, driving strategic ambition and broader outreach.
2023: Pause and Reflection
Activities were paused due to funding and operational challenges. The year became a time for deep reflection, reassessing priorities, and identifying what was needed to build stronger, more sustainable foundations for the future.
2024: Quiet Renewal
No public-facing activities, focused on rebuilding strategy, governance, and sustainable planning. Reaffirmed mission and values through deep reflection and analysis of the new charitable landscape brought by the pandemic, bringing the need for a new strategic plan.
2025: Rebirth and Resilience
Appointed a new Operational Director to lead our growth strategy and recruited 10 skilled volunteers. Developed a long-term sustainability plan with diversified income. Strengthened governance and internal systems. Shifting from survival to resilient, community-centred rebuilding.
